Chiriquí, Panama
Chiriquí is Panama's highland province: Boquete and its cloud forest, Volcán Barú (the country's highest point, with views of both oceans on a clear day), and a web of rivers and waterfalls dropping toward the Pacific. It has the most verified nature spots on Tripsi — hidden waterfalls, swimming holes, coffee-farm trails and viewpoints — because this is where the explorer community is most active. Many of these places are less than an hour from David or Boquete, but road conditions and access change with the rain; each spot's recent photos and ratings tell you what to expect today.

When to go
January to March for dry trails and clear Barú views. In the rainy season the waterfalls are at their most spectacular, but some dirt access roads get tricky without 4x4.
Safety and accessibility
Boquete is very calm. The main hazard in Chiriquí is river flooding during or after heavy rain — don't cross or swim if the water is muddy or rising. The overnight Barú hike needs genuine cold-weather clothing.
